  Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend with Black Travel Maine's exclusive Mansion Takeover! This unforgettable event combines history, outdoor adventure, cultural experiences, and luxurious accommodations for a long weekend of connection and celebration.

  
  

  Day 1: Friday, January 16, 2026

  Arrival & Check-In: Guests will arrive at The Francis Mansion Boutique Hotel, a historic and luxurious property in the heart of Portland, Maine. Relax and settle into your elegant accommodations before the weekend festivities begin.
  Visit to Indigo Arts Alliance (4:30 PM – 5:30 PM):Experience Maine’s vibrant creative community at this renowned cultural center. Learn about Indigo Arts Alliance's mission to amplify the work of Black and Brown artists while enjoying a tour of their latest exhibitions.
  Meet & Greet: Dinner, Music, Beer Tour, and Dancing at Allagash Brewing Company (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM):Kick off the weekend with a warm welcome at Allagash Brewing Company. Enjoy a delicious catered dinner paired with craft beer tastings during an exclusive brewery tour.   Day of Skiing at Sunday River Mountain (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM):Depart early for a thrilling day at Sunday River Mountain, Maine’s premier ski destination. Whether you're a seasoned skier or a first-timer, enjoy the slopes or relax in the cozy lodge.

  Evening Gathering at The Francis Mansion (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM):After a full day on the mountain, return to The Francis for a casual and cozy evening by the fireplace. Savor fresh pizza and salads while mingling with fellow guests in the intimate ambiance of the hotel.

  Day 3: Sunday, January 18, 2026

   
  BTM Black History Walking Tour (1PM – 3PM): Join a guided tour through Portland’s historic streets, led by Black Mainers with deep generational roots. Explore Maine’s Black history, including its role in the Underground Railroad and the local contributions to civil rights.
  Afternoon Shopping Excursion (3 PM – 4 PM): Visit Portland’s Black Owned boutique then shop and enjoy galleries, featuring unique gifts, local artisans, and vibrant cultural items. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up a keepsake from your trip.
  Evening Black Attire Party (7:00 PM – 11:00 PM): Dress in your most elegant black attire for this sophisticated event to close out the weekend.
